Timothy L. Boncoskey, Maricopa County Chief Deputy Assessor Assumes Office of IAAO President

KANSAS CITY, MO – Maricopa County Chief Deputy Assessor Timothy L. Boncoskey assumed the office of President of the International Association of Assessing Officers (IAAO) on January 1, 2019.  As President, Boncoskey is Chair of the Board of Directors and presides at all meetings of the Board and membership.

Previously he served as IAAO President-Elect in 2018, Vice President in 2017, and on the Board from 2013 to 2015. As a representative of IAAO, Mr. Boncoskey also serves on the Board of Directors of the National Association of Counties (NACo).

He has been a member of IAAO since 2006. IAAO recognized Boncoskey in 2012 as IAAO Member of the Year and in 2016 and in 2017 he received the IAAO Stacy Ford Award for being the association's most outstanding Representative. In 2016, 2017, and 2018 he was the IAAO Kenneth J. McCarren Award recipient for recruiting the largest number of new IAAO members.

In 2011, he served as Chairman of the Major Jurisdictions Council, Chairman of the Local Host Committee for the 2011 International Conference on Assessment Administration in Phoenix, Arizona, and Chairman of the Councils and Sections Committee of IAAO for 2012. He has also served as the elected President of AzIAAO for 2007-2008 and 2011 and the chapter’s national representative for nine years beginning in 2009.  In 2018, he received the AzIAAO Bud Scribner Award for his outstanding contributions to the Arizona assessment community.

He joined Maricopa County Assessor’s Office as Chief Deputy in July 2006 after 17 years with the State of Arizona. He also worked as a senior budget analyst for the Fairfax County Office of Management and Budget in Virginia before beginning his Arizona State government career.

He received a bachelor’s degree in Public Administration in 1983 from the University of Arizona and a master’s degree in Public Affairs in 1985 from the LBJ School at the University of Texas. He also attended the Governor's Center at Duke University Strategic Leadership Program for State Executives in 1999.
