GIS/Valuation Technologies Conference

The 2024 GIS/Valuation Technologies Conference will take place April 8-11 at the Le Meridien/Sheraton Charlotte Hotel in Charlotte, North Carolina. IAAO and URISA will accept submissions until Sept. 22 for keynote, workshop, and presentation at the conference and links to submit are below.

The GIS/Valuation Technologies Conference for professionals in property assessment, tax administration, mapping and information technology has been the favorite annual event for Assessors and GIS professionals who apply technology to make property assessment and tax administration more accurate and efficient for a quarter of a century. Optional pre- and post-conference workshops will provide deep-dives into a number of important topics. The conference will feature an abundance of educational sessions, panel discussions, and opportunities to connect with partners and fellow attendees.

Call For Presentations

The Conference Planning Committee is soliciting educational content and instructors for full and half-day conference workshops. Conference workshops are scheduled on Monday, April 8. The Exhibit Hall will be open Tuesday and Wednesday and the meeting closes at noon on Thursday, April 11. The educational program is developed through a peer review of submissions received. The members of the GIS/Valuation Technologies Conference Committee spend countless hours reviewing, debating and discussing submissions.

Potential Topics

The conference will be organized under the following tracks this year and suggested topics are viewable under each area.

We encourage proposers to shoot and upload a short video (less than 1 minute) that describes the content and learning objectives for the session or workshop.

The deadline to submit proposals is Sept. 22, 2023.

Important Notes:

  • Presentations cannot be sales pitches or commercials. Presentation submissions by industry representatives must include a co-presenter who is a user.  The focus must be on education and not selling a product a service.  There will be a separate Technology Showcase track for exhibitors.
  • All accepted presenters must submit either a formal paper (preferred but not required) or presentation with notes (i.e. PowerPoint/Prezi) during the conference for inclusion in the conference proceedings. Your session moderator will collect the papers/presentations during the conference on a thumb drive.
  • To accommodate conference management, presenters are expected to meet deadlines. The conference utilizes a schedule app for the online publication of the event schedule, individual presentations, speaker biographies, exhibitor profiles and attendee networking. Presenters will receive instructions to upload their biographies and engage with the community upon acceptance.
  • Breakout session rooms will be moderated and equipped a screen, projector, and cables to plug into the presenters’ laptop (it is the responsibility of the presenter to verify their laptop’s compatibility with provided cables). A PowerPoint Conference Slide Template will be distributed to all presenters, even if you only use it for your presentation title and name.
  •  All accepted presenters must register and pay the conference registration fee. Acceptance as a presenter does not register you for the conference — registration fees are required.
