IAAO’s Assessment Books Now Available on Amazon

January 22, 2019 - IAAO announced that its collection of informational books about the assessment industry, known as the Body of Knowledge, is now available for purchase from Amazon.

The books range in price from $19.95 to $49.95 and the order page may be accessed through a link from the IAAO website at https://www.iaao.org/apendiumbooks

The books capture, in one place, a description of the expertise required to effectively work within the assessment profession. These books provide the framework for that compendium by describing the key areas of knowledge in which assessors must establish competency and identifying the broad categories of skills required by professionals working in each “Knowledge Area.”

The series of books, known as the “Body of Knowledge,” is the result of a project to provide assessors information about their jobs. The series was developed by a team of industry subject matter experts and also incorporates input from a survey of IAAO members.

“Assessors work for governments of all sizes around the globe and there was no unified collection of information to assist them with their duties,” said 2019 IAAO President Tim Boncoskey. “This builds upon the various publications and individual educational offerings IAAO currently offers. We are working to ensure our books and courses are well coordinated with the Apendium.”

There are eight books in the series and each cover an individual Knowledge Area: Working with the Legal Framework; Collecting and Maintaining Property Data; Developing and Managing Cadastral Data; Appraising Property; Leading and Managing the Assessment Office; Managing Complaints and Appeals; Managing Public Relations and Communications; and Oversight and Compliance Review.

Background information about each Knowledge Area and additional resources is also available on the IAAO website at https://www.iaao.org/apendium
