Registration opens for Legal Seminar, Nov. 30 - Dec. 1
Registration is now open for the 2023 IAAO Legal Seminar,
set for Nov. 30 - Dec. 1 in Louisville at the Omni Louisville Hotel.
The theme for the seminar is "Assessing the New Norm" and attendees will
hear from industry experts on legal topics of interest to members of
the assessment and property tax industry.
Full
session descriptions and a brochure will be available in September.
Traditionally, sessions include presentations on recent property tax
developments and cases of note, creating good property tax
administrative practices, trial ethics, and ethics in governance.
Continuing
legal education credits (CLEs) will be available and if requested, IAAO
will seek approval for continuing legal education credits for states. The amount of CLE credit available may vary by state. Requests for CLE credit must be made no later than Oct. 1.
Registration
Attendees may register online or submit a paper form
with payment. Fees are $550 for IAAO members and $750 for
nonmembers until Sept. 30. From Oct. 1 to Nov. 20 fees increase to $660
for members and $900 for nonmembers. After Nov. 20 the onsite
registration rate is $790 for members and $1,080 for nonmembers.
Hotel
The seminar will take place at the Omni Louisville Hotel. The rate for legal seminar attendees is $212 per night, plus taxes.
Scholarships available
The
IAAO Scholarship Fund exists for the purpose of promoting ad valorem
appraisal professionalism. The Scholarship Fund is available to all IAAO
members who need financial assistance to attend IAAO educational
activities, including the Legal Seminar. The application
can be found on the IAAO website under the Resources menu and must be
submitted no later than 30 days before the event. The maximum award for
this event is $1,250 per recipient. Contact Toni Eichholz with questions

Reminder, valuation of senior housing focus of Wednesday's webinar
Reminder, post pandemic senior housing will be the focus of the IAAO webinar on Wednesday, Aug. 16.
Senior housing joined the ranks of several commercial property use
groups that were affected by the pandemic. This webinar addresses
specific topics that have created valuation issues for Senior Housing,
such as operating characteristics, monthly/daily rates, occupancy,
expenses, capitalization rates, and transaction volume.
The
webinar, set for noon Central on Wednesday, August 16, is eligible for
1.5 CEU hours. The cost is $55 for IAAO members and $77 for nonmembers.
