IAAO offering IEW in Denver for potential instructors

   Interested in becoming an instructor? IAAO is offering the Instructor Evaluation Workshop in August at the IAAO Annual Conference in Denver. The IEW event will be offered before the conference at the Grand Hyatt Denver and is open to qualifying IAAO members.  Those who pass the IEW audition will be considered a junior IAAO instructor and will be able to teach in the live classroom. Application is online.

Board election info available; filing deadline is July 1

  Members interested in running for the IAAO Board of Directors should submit candidate materials by July 1. Check out the Elections page on the IAAO website for more information and forms needed to submit.
   A free webinar, Future IAAO: How to serve on the Board of Directors, for those interested in becoming candidates is set for May 28. The webinar is intended to inform potential candidates for the IAAO Board of Directors of the requirements to become a candidate and the expectations of serving if elected to the position. Nominations Chair Todd Bergren and President Rebecca Malmquist, CAE, will review the process and provide insight.   
    Regular members in good standing will be able to vote electronically from Nov. 1-15, for the Regular Board Member and Officer positions and Associate members will be able to vote for the Associate member position.

IAAO offering CAE courses online for Fast Track completion

   IAAO has set up live online courses to allow students to complete the Certified Assessment Evaluator (CAE) designation education requirements in a year. Between the live online classes and self-study options, students will have opportunities to take all classes required to earn the designation.
   The CAE requires courses 101, 102, 112, 311, 400 and workshops 151 and 171. Courses 101, 102, and Workshop 171 are now self-study courses, and dates for the live online courses have been released.

Conference registration open; third hotel added

    Due to high demand, rooms are now available at the Curtis Denver, in addition to the recently added Grand Hyatt Denver for the 2024 IAAO Annual Conference, Aug. 25-28 in Denver. The cutoff to reserve a room is July 31.  Conference registration the 2024 IAAO Annual Conference, Aug. 25-28 in Denver is also now open. The IAAO Annual Conference is the premier platform to share successes, discover best practices, and learn about the latest research in the field of property appraisal. Online registration for the conference is open and a paper registration form is also available to download. The Annual Conference will take place at the Colorado Convention Center in Denver. 
   More than 60 sessions are expected to be offered at the conference. Session titles, times, and speakers will be available on the 2024 Conference Education Sessions page released later in the spring. Attendees should have the opportunity to earn 10 or more credit hours.

Register for Mass Appraisal Valuation Symposium

   The International Property Tax Institute and IAAO will present a joint virtual Mass Appraisal Valuation Symposium June 26-27, and registration is open. The theme of the virtual MAVS is “Challenges and Opportunities.”
   Speakers from around the world will present on mass appraisal, emerging developments in valuation, technology and innovation, the use of data, property tax administration, leadership and ethics, and reviews and appeals. Full details on the programs are available here.
