December 7-8, 2017 - Seattle, WA
The IAAO 38th Annual Legal Seminar will be held in Seattle, Washington, at the Seattle Marriott Waterfront on December 7–8, 2017 and will cover legal topics of interest to members of the assessment and property tax industry.
Topics for the two-day seminar include recent development in real property taxation, valuation of generation plants; appraisal of mineral rights and mining property; legal aspects of mass appraisal; big box challenges and the dark store method; restrictive covenants; burden of proof in assessment hearings in the United States and Canada; recruiting and retaining women, minorities, and the next generation of employees; and ethics for attorneys.
Attendees may register online or submit a paper form with payment. Fees are $500 for IAAO members and $625 for nonmembers until November 1. After that date fees increase to $550 for members and $700 for nonmembers. For more information, see the registration page
The seminar will take place at the Seattle Marriott Waterfront Hotel, located 14.3 miles from Seattle-Tacoma International Airport (SEA) . The room rate for attendees is $165 per night, plus various taxes. For more information, see the registration and hotel page
IAAO professional designees will earn 12 hours of recertification credit. If you are participating in other recertification and continuing education programs, please bring the forms or letters to the seminar. We cannot guarantee that the credits will be honored by other entities.
Attorneys will receive a uniform certificate of attendance on the second day of the seminar for filing with their state. Washington CLE credit is pending and IAAO will also seek approval for other states that are requested prior to the October 1st deadline.
