When Candidates CANNOT Run
All candidates will be carefully considered. It is important to note, however, that candidates from the following states CANNOT run for Executive Board positions that begin in 2018, as there are already sitting Executive Board members from these states: Arkansas, Utah, Tennessee, Minnesota, Hawaii, and Indiana. This does not apply to the officer positions.
Your First Step - The Candidate Questionnaire
Please fill out the online questionnaire and submit it to IAAO Headquarters no later than July 1, 2018. Scan and submit the three supporting documents and proof of having taken Workshop 171 as outlined at the end of the questionnaire and email those to email@example.com.
Your Next Step - Candidate Profile Form
The candidate profile form is available on the IAAO website. The information provided will be printed in the Fair & Equitable magazine, and sent with the paper ballots.
Please note the following rules regarding the profile:
- Your profile must be 1,800 characters or less, submitted on the online profile form (See the election information from IAAO’s governing documents, eligibility, rules and policies).
- Endorsements will not be listed in the profile material.
- You must provide a Photo for the candidate profile brochure:
- head shot
- electronic photo in a .jpg or .tif format, 300 dpi or greater.
- You must submit your candidate profile and photo by July 1, 2018. It is to your advantage to submit as early as possible so any issues can be addressed.
The Nominating Committee will review all the information from candidates and decide whether or not an interview is necessary. The candidate will be notified on or before August 1st as to whether their name will appear on the slate. The slate will formally be announced at the 84th Annual Conference, September 23-26, 2018, in Minneapolis, Minnesota.
Promoting Your Candidacy
Once the Nominating Committee has chosen the slate, candidates will be provided with options for promoting their candidacy.
2018 Electronic Voting
All IAAO members in good standing will be able to vote electronically from November 1-15, 2018. In 2018 Regular Members will vote for the Regular Board Member and Officer positions. Associate Members will for vote for an Associate Board Member in 2018.
On behalf of the 2018 Nominating Committee, we thank you again for your interest in serving IAAO in a leadership capacity. Should you submit the necessary information for candidacy and later encounter circumstances that will prevent you from running or make you ineligible for the position you are seeking, please notify me, or the Chair of the Nominating Committee, Carol Kuehn (firstname.lastname@example.org) as soon as possible. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact us at 816-701-8100.
