formal designation meaning the end of a session — after advancing a
school finance compromise to Abbott's desk but declining to further
negotiate on a key property tax proposal.

one of Kohl's stores because of the growing vacancy and dropping values
of other shopping centers in its area.

North Delhi Municipal Council has approached the apex court challenging
the Delhi High Court's order that struck down the civic body's 2009
by-laws, under which it could charge property tax even on vacant land.
According to senior officials, the civic body had filed a petition in
the Supreme Court challenging the order on the grounds that HC decision
allows room for corruption.

unresolved under the previous measure for calculating the tax. The
Valuations Office Agency (VOA) said it had received 1.1 millions
challenges to the 2010 property valuation, of which 233,550 were still
