Registration
is now open for the 11th IAAO International Research Symposium taking
place Oct. 30-31, 2017, in Madrid, Spain. The Symposium will explore the
intersection of public policy and mass appraisal standards, guidance
and implementation challenges. Prior to the Symposium, IAAO will present
an optional half-day forum on Oct. 29 covering automated valuation
models and GIS. See the IAAO website for a full agenda and registration

The IAAO Standard on Automated Valuation Models (AVMs)
has been revised and updated. An exposure draft is posted on the IAAO
website for review. In addition, the IAAO Executive Board approved
submitting for exposure several proposed amendment changes to the IAAO
Bylaws. Comments will be accepted until May 31, 2017, for the Standard
on AVMs and until June 11 for the Bylaw changes.

Many education fees will increase on June 1
|
|
IAAO
Effective
June 1, 2017, fees for several IAAO examinations, candidacy
applications and all student reference manuals (SRMs) will increase. All
applications/orders received after June 1 will be subject to the new
prices. The Retake Exam application fee will be $150 for both IAAO
members and nonmembers. The Challenge Exam application fee will be $100
for IAAO designation candidates, $150 for IAAO members and $300 for
nonmembers. The fee for the Designation Case Study Retake Exam will be
$150. The Candidacy Application fee will increase to $50. Fees for SRMs
for five-day courses will be $100 for members and $175 for nonmembers.
Fees for SRMs for workshops will be $75 for members and $150 for
nonmembers. These fees have not gone up in recent years and we
appreciate your understanding as IAAO now implements these new prices.

Rodgers didn't need the Nebraska Supreme Court to tell him that a state
order further lowering northeast Omaha property valuations last year
was off base. Rodgers' constituents and his common sense already had
told him that. Even so, the Douglas County Board member welcomed a
Nebraska Supreme Court ruling that reversed a 2016 state tax
commission's order to reduce valuations by 8 percent on about 20,000
residential properties in northeast Omaha.
