IAAO USPAP Subcommittee is asking for members in the United States to
provide input via a brief survey on state licensure and USPAP. The
survey is designed to help IAAO better understand the needs of U.S.
members and it will close May 11, 2017. Thank you in advance for your

IAAO Library just released a FREE subject guide on the room sharing
economy. Many jurisdictions have come to terms or made deals with Airbnb
and similar operations rather than fight the inevitable. Further study
is needed in the appraisal field on changes in home and hotel values due
to short term rentals concentration as well as how to determine situs
addresses of properties for proper classification by the assessor.

is now available. This report provides important information and
analysis on compensation, benefits and employment trends in the mass

members reporting higher median annual base salaries than nonmembers,

retire or leave the industry within nine years and much more. The report

people like you to submit the application for Presidential Appointments

This
year Mayor de Blasio will pay $3,581 in property taxes on each of two
row houses he owns in ultra-gentrified Park Slope. The city says his
properties are worth about $1.6 million apiece. Some 14 miles away, in
middle-class Laurelton, Queens, Arthur Russell, 66, who retired from
computer sales, will pay a property tax bill that, at $4,569, is about
28 percent higher than the mayor's.

Indiana government officials have learned that the Indiana Supreme
Court decided not to hear a big box store's tax appeals case in Howard
County, striking a financial blow to cities and towns here with a large
number of stores like Wal-Mart, Meijer's and Lowe's. The court's
decision, which came April 27, was split, 3-2.

homeowners will likely get the chance to vote next year on whether to
cut their property taxes by an average of about $275 a year. The Senate
has approved HJR 7105, which would put on the 2018 ballot an additional
$25,000 homestead exemption. The plan is a top priority of House Speaker
Richard Corcoran, R-Land O'Lakes, so it is almost certain to pass his
chamber this week.

the Unicameral considers changing how agricultural land is assessed for
property tax purposes, one critic says it'll have little impact on
farmers' tax bills. Cedar County Assessor Donald Hoesing says any
changes enacted in Lincoln won't significantly lower taxes, especially

County Common Pleas Court Judge Charles B. Burr has ordered the first
complete reassessment of all property valuations in the county since
2000 to address an apparent lack of uniformity in violation of the
Pennsylvania Constitution. The reassessment, which will become effective
January 2021, is the ultimate result of a pair of assessment appeals
filed by James and Lenore Kaufman of Rose Valley, and Peter and Ellen
Bodenheimer of Haverford.
