Technology, collaboration, & recognition focus of Tuesday's programs
Sheila Botting, senior partner and Canadian Real Estate Leader, and a member of Deloitte’s Global Real Estate Executive, spoke on “Disruptive Technologies and Impact for the Commercial Real Estate Industry” during the keynote address on Tuesday morning.
At the Business Meeting following the keynote, IAAO and RICS signed an agreement to work together to simplify and reduce fragmentation in the property tax and assessment industry. The partnership solidifies the two organizations' commitment to provide clarity in valuation for the public good and seeks to enhance resources for valuation professionals across all sectors.
IAAO also recognized a renewal of a 10-year collaboration agreement with the Korea Association of Property Appraisers (KAPA), and reviewed the recently announced partnership between the IAAO and the Australian Property Institute. 
Three members, Richard Almy, Robert Gloudemans, and John F. Ryan, CAE, were presented the IAAO Fellows title, which is awarded annually to recognize individuals who have dedicated their career to the development of the profession and made exceptional contributions to the Association and the assessment industry.
IAAO also recognized several governmental units that completed the Certificate of Excellence in Assessment Administration program. The offices recognized have all demonstrated best practices in the workplace.

IVCS CEO to present keynote
Nick Talbot, CEO of the International Valuation Standards Council (IVSC), will speak on "IVSC and attempting Everest the harder way” this morning at 8:00 am in the Fallsview Theatre. The IVSC, based in London, is a not-for-profit organization that acts as the global standard setter for the valuation profession, serving the public interest.NickTalbot15.png
Before being appointed as CEO at IVSC, Talbot spent 13 years in a variety of international, senior management roles at accounting firms like Ernst & Young and KPMG before joining The Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS) as a director.
Away from work, Nick is a dedicated fundraiser for the Cystic Fibrosis Trust. In 2016, he became the first person with cystic fibrosis to successfully summit Mount Everest, raising over £100,000 ($130,500) in the process for the trust.

Women's Initiative luncheon is today
Debbie Zimmerman, CEO of the Debbie_Zimmerman.pngGrape Growers of Ontario will be the speaker for this year's Women's Initiative Luncheon, set for 11:45 am to 12:50 pm in the Port Colborne Lounge.
Registration for the luncheon is closed. You must be on the registration list for admittance IAAO will have a list of attendees at the door. 
Zimmerman is the past chair of the Municipal Property Assessment Corporation for the Province of Ontario and was assigned to the 2015/16 Provincial Review Panel for Ontario’s Land Use Plans.

The IAAO Annual Conference concludes tonight with the Closing Gala in Exhibit Hall C and the After Party at the Dragonfly Nightclub. Suggested attire for the Closing Gala is semi-formal.
The 2020 IAAO Annual Conference will travel west to Denver, Colorado, with the conference taking place August 30 - September 2 at the Hyatt Regency Denver. General registration and hotel room reservations will begin in March.
