Awards, Keynote Monday's highlights
Conference programming got underway on Monday with the Keynote session by Ken Larson to start the day. Larson, owner of Champion Performance Systems, talked on “InspirationshipTM” and the need to inspiring people as opposed to motiving and the need for clarity and consistency in management.
Prior to Larson's presentation, MPAC President and Chief Administrative Officer Nicole McNeill welcomed the attendees to Niagara Falls and talked about the role MPAC plays in the industry and relationship with IAAO on education programs, standards, and assisting in creating a new IAAO chapter in Ontario.
The opening presentations were followed by programs and the annual awards luncheon. Through the annual awards program, members and nonmembers can receive global recognition for excellence in property appraisal, assessment administration, property tax policy and related disciplines.

Business Meeting & Tech Keynote today
A keynote address on disruptive technologies is set to open today's programs, followed by the IAAO Annual Business meeting. Both events will take place in the Fallsview Theatre in the Scotiabank Convention Centre.
Sheila Botting, senior partner and Canadian Real Estate Leader, and a member of Deloitte’s Global Real Estate Executive, will speak on “Disruptive Technologies and Impact for theSheilaBotting15.png Commercial Real Estate Industry” during the Keynote on Tuesday from 8-9 am.
Shelia is responsible for Deloitte’s full-service offerings to the real estate industry, and real estate services for clients that span private and public sectors. Before Deloitte, she was executive managing director at Cushman & Wakefield. She led Deloitte’s own corporate real estate strategy for transformation, including Toronto’s Bay Adelaide East tower, Montreal’s Deloitte Tower, and others across Canada.

Attendee lunch, Round Tables today
The Attendee Appreciation Lunch and Round Tables will take place today in the Exhibit Hall over the lunch hour.  
The Attendee Appreciation Lunch is from 11:45 am to 1:30 pm in Exhibit Hall A/B and the Round Table discussion groups will be from Noon to 1:00 pm in Exhibit Hall C. Round Table participants can pick up lunch in Exhibit Hall A/B to take to the Round Tables.
Round Table subjects are: IAAO Professional Consulting Services, Certificate of Excellence is Assessment Administration (CEAA); Professional Designations Q & A; State and Provincial Property Tax; Assessing Non-Profits; Safety in the Workplace; Highly Unique Properties; Politics in the Assessor’s Office; Rural Solutions; and What Women Want.

Wednesday to feature keynote, Women's Luncheon, & Gala
Nick Talbot, CEO of the International Valuation Standards Council (IVSC), will speak on "IVSC and attempting Everest the harder way.” The IVSC, based in London, is a not-for-profit organization that acts as the global standard setter for the valuation profession, serving the public interest.
Also on Wednesday are a number of programs and the Women's Initiative Luncheon. The annual conference will conclude with the Closing Gala and Dinner, followed by an afterparty at the Dragonfly Nightclub.
