Ceremony, reception open Conference
Conference programs got underway on Sunday with nearly 1,400 people attending the 85th IAAO  Annual Conference. Programs started with IAAO President Tim Boncoskey welcoming attendees to the conference at the Opening Ceremony.
Walter Sendzik, Mayor of St. Catherines and a member of the MPAC's Board of Directors, welcomed attendees to the conference during the special opening ceremony.
"It's an honor as an elected official to understand the important role of assessors, property value, and what it does for the overall tax base in our individual communities," said Mayor Sendzik.
Following the program attendees went to the Welcome Reception and fireworks show at Table Rock Centre by the Falls.

IAAO teams with Project SHARE
During Sunday night’s opening ceremony, attendees heard about how IAAO is partnering with Project SHARE to help raise funds those in need in the Niagara Falls area.

SHARE stands for Support, Housing, Awareness, Resources ProjectSHare.pngand Emergency, and the organization provides services to struggling families in the area. Its mission is to address the need for food and create long-term solutions for food security.
Each day, Project SHARE provides emergency food to about 126 families. On an annual basis, it distributes more than 800,000 pounds of food. Beyond the food bank, Project SHARE offers 20 other programs and services. To contribute, Project Share has a desk by the Registration Area. 

IAAO Awards Luncheon today
The IAAO Annual Conference Awards Luncheon will take place today from Noon to 1:20 pm in Exhibit Hall C at the Scotiabank Convention Centre and award winners will be announced and recognized.
IAAO takes great pride in recognizing individual and organizational achievements in the assessment industry. Through IAAO's annual Awards Program, both members and nonmembers can receive global recognition for excellence in property appraisal, assessment administration, property tax policy and related disciplines.
The Awards Program boasts a number of categories recognizing individual and organizational achievements in several areas including publications, technical expertise and service to IAAO.  

Monday Keynote features Ken Larson
The Annual Conference starts today at 8:00 am with a keynote address by Ken Larson on “InspirationshipTM”. Larson is  a Certified Executive Coach, a Gazelles International Certified Coach, a Certified Franklin Covey Facilitator, a Certified Coach, and Facilitator with Opposite Strengths.
Larson coaches leaders in growing companies, gives corporate performance training, and presents high-impact inspirational keynote talks. As a Certified Coach, he assists leaders and their teams to create, implement, and successfully execute a “One Page Strategic Plan” (OPSP) for their organizations. Larson has owned and operated Champion Performance Systems since 1998.

Tuesday Keynote on Disruptive Technology
Sheila Botting, senior partner and Canadian Real Estate Leader, and a member of Deloitte’s Global Real Estate Executive, will speak on “Disruptive Technologies and Impact for the Commercial Real Estate Industry” during the Keynote address on Tuesday from 8-9 am.
Shelia is responsible for Deloitte’s full-service offerings to the real estate industry,SheilaBotting15.png and real estate services for clients that span private and public sectors. Before Deloitte, she was executive managing director at Cushman & Wakefield. She led Deloitte’s own corporate real estate strategy for transformation, including Toronto’s Bay Adelaide East tower, Montreal’s Deloitte Tower, and others across Canada.
In 2016, Toronto Life named Deloitte Tower Toronto as the “best new office workplace.” Her vision and expertise have helped Deloitte toward its “Workplace of the Future,” resulting in significant workplace improvements, productivity gains, and cost savings, along with the creation of a prototype “Smart Building/Workplace.” She has also led teams working for investors, property owners, occupiers, and others to transform their portfolios and operations toward a digital marketplace.
