Letters to the Editor Policy Statement
The International Association of Assessing Officers (IAAO) [the Association] accepts Letters to the Editor for Fair & Equitable magazine as a means to encourage dialogue and exchange of ideas between members of the Association. Letters received from nonmembers who subscribe to Fair & Equitable may be accepted at the discretion of the managing editor. All submissions to Letters to the Editor become the sole and exclusive property of IAAO.
IAAO reserves the right to edit letters to fit available space. IAAO also reserves the right to select and print letters that represent a variety of ideas and opposing points of view. IAAO will not accept or print letters that are anonymous, that can be construed as personal attacks, that promote political campaigns, or that constitute advertising or personal promotions.
The managing editor reserves the right to comment about topics of interest and to clarify IAAO policies and positions as defined by the IAAO Executive Board.
IAAO will accept supporting materials that accompany letters, such as photographs or short biographies , when space is available. IAAO regrets that it cannot return items that have been submitted to Letters to the Editor.
The Executive Director of IAAO reserves the right to review Letters to the Editor and withhold submissions that can be construed as libelous, defamatory, or against the policies and best interests of the Association.
