The Maine State Chapter of IAAO celebrated their 30th anniversary during 2008! The chapter was first established in 1978 by then Secretary Mike Austin. In honor of Mike’s memory, we offer a scholarship annually in his name, in order for a member to become CAE certified.

We continue to thrive with a healthy membership and full Board of Directors. We meet as a Chapter four times a year, with full days of educational opportunities.

Like Massachusetts, the State of Maine ’s taxing jurisdictions are governed by municipalities, not counties, although we also have 18 county seats.

Our purposes is to educate the public on the importance of work performed by assessing officers and to improve the standards of present assessment practice; to elevate the standards of personal requirements in assessment offices; to work for justice, equity, and uniformity within the tax structure and the distribution of the same.
